A number of spray painted swastikas were found on buildings in the Saint Boniface neighborhood of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The area is heavily populated by Jews including some Holocaust survivors.

The local B’nai Brith Organization was alarmed and expressed their concern to the police, urging them to have the swastikas removed as soon as possible.

“Hatred and intolerance have once more reared their ugly heads,” said a B’nai Brith member.

The swastikas were discovered in the past week mostly on city property, specifically at the Bertrand Arena and on electrical boxes and poles, according to Winnipeg police.

Police have been investigating the matter, yet there is still no word on who thecharges will be made against.

B’nai Brith showed police officials an audit of anti-Semitic events in the neighborhood, which show an increase in numbers of incidents in recent years.
