Denmark: At least eight rapes every day by immigrants
Every day, at least eight Danish women are raped or attempted raped, shows the latest victim study from the Danish Crime Prevention Council. It is estimated that around 3600 and at least 2,800 rapes are committed per year, the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet reports.
But only a minority of the victims go to the police.
Just 382 Danes last year reported a rape or attempted rape to the police. A significant number of rape victims are carrying a terrible secret: that they have been sexually violated.
At the Center for Rape Victims in Aarhus, they often get inquiries from women who do not want to go to the police. The reasons vary.
– Some of the victims do not define the assault as rape, because the perpetrator is someone they know. Others even feel guilt, or fear of how their surroundings will react. And then there are also many who know that a report to the police very often is pointless, says senior psychologist Anja Hareskov from the Center for Rape Victims in Aarhus..
Approximately one fourth of the women the center comes in contact with, never report the rape to the police.
Of the cases that are reported, seven out of ten are rejected before they go to court, either by the police or by prosecutors, says the most recent figures from the Crime Prevention Council.
Typically, because there is not enough evidence, and therefore it will be a matter of his word against hers, as the alleged offender will say that it was sex and not rape.
But the police says that victims of rape should not be afraid to go to the police. On the contrary, it is important that they report it as soon as possible, says the acting head of the National Investigation Center, deputy police inspector Henrik Emil Horup.
– The police take these cases very seriously, and I would like to say that we always believe people when they report a rape. My advice to anyone who might be exposed to an assault, is that they contact the police. The faster the victims report it, the sooner we can begin to investigate, and better secure evidence.
However, the figures from Denmark are nothing compared with the figures from Sweden, where the violent crime has increased by 300% and rapes by 1,472% since the 70s. Sweden is now number two on the list of rape countries, surpassed only by Lesotho in Southern Africa.
In 1975, 421 rapes were reported to the police; in 2014, it was 6,620. That is an increase of 1,472%.
As in Denmark, the number of rapes that are not reported to the police in Sweden, is huge.
Significantly, the reports in both Denmark and Sweden do not touch on the background of the rapists. One should, however, keep in mind that in statistics, second-generation immigrants are counted as Swedes or Danes.
In an astounding number of cases, the Swedish courts have demonstrated sympathy for the rapists, and have acquitted suspects who have claimed that the girl wanted to have sex with six, seven or eight men.
The internet radio station Granskning Sverige called the mainstream newspapers Aftonposten and Expressen to ask why they had described the perpetrators as “Swedish men” when they actually were Somalis without Swedish citizenship. They were hugely offended when asked if they felt any responsibility to warn Swedish women to stay away from certain men. One journalist asked why that should be their responsibility, the Gatestone Institute reports.
