In the Jewish quarter of Vienna, a landlord has threatened to evict a Jewish tenant unless he removes the Israeli flag from his window.
The tenant received the flag during the most recent Eurovision contest, in which Israel placed 9th overall. When told by the landlord that the flag “offends one of the neighbours,” the Jewish tenant refused to remove the flag, citing the vagueness of the complaint as insufficient to warrant such an action.
Upon refusing to remove the flag, the tenant was told by his landlord to “remove the flag or leave the apartment.”
These types of events are becoming more and more common today, with the recent rise in anti-Semitism in Europe. Many concerning anti-Semitic events have taken place in recent months, including vandalism of Jewish sites, terror attacks, and blatant anti-Semitism.
