Israeli weapons confiscated in Yemen
An Iranian news agency reported that a large stockpile of weapons made in Israel was found in the Saudi embassy in Yemen and taken by the Houthi rebels.
A large stockpile of weapons made in Israel were found in the Saudi embassy in Yemen, Iranian news agency FARS reported. According to the report, the weapons were discovered when the rebel forces seized control of the building yesterday.
The rebels announced that in the embassy, which is situated in the Yemeni capital of Sana’a, they found a “significant stockpile” of weapons and ammunition that were manufactured in Israel. They also discovered American documents indicating the intention to set up a U.S. military base in the region of Bab el-Mandeb in Saudi Arabia, “in order to protect American interests and to defend the safety of Israel.”
According to the report, the documents indicate that Saudi Arabia had asked Israel for advanced weapons in order to provide them to terrorist groups in Yemen and to the forces loyal to the fugitive President Mansur Hadi.
Last month, Yemeni army commander General Tahir Rasul Zadami claimed that the Saudi regime used weapons made in Israel during the operation against the rebels. “In the airstrikes they used weapons manufactured in Tel Aviv,” he stated.
