Family Vacation Turns to Nightmare After Blood-Sucking Parasites Discovered

A family at a Florida resort near Walt Disney World took a big turn for the worse.

Mom Christina Streble noticed red bite marks on her children and she first thought it was caused by mosquitoes. The family was staying at the Oak Plantation Resort in Kissimmee, Florida.
But then, they pulled back the sheets on the bed.

It turned out the bite marks were caused by bedbugs, which feed off human blood and are considered a big nuisance.

“We counted 266 bites on my oldest daughter and 125 bites on my middle child,” Streble told WKMG. “They were red and inflamed.”

That’s extremely unusual, a doctor said.

“The doctor that saw our daughters said that this was the worst case of bed bugs that he had ever seen,” she told WESH. “This has been a nightmare,” Streble added.

If her story is making your skin crawl, here’s some information about bedbugs, per the Mayo Clinic:

About the size of an apple seed, bedbugs hide in the cracks and crevices of beds, box springs, headboards, bed frames and any other objects around a bed. The risk of encountering bedbugs increases if you spend time in places with high turnovers of nighttime guests — such as hotels, hospitals or homeless shelters.

They hide all over the place:

Bedbug infestations usually occur around or near where people sleep. They hide in the cracks and crevices of:

Box springs
Bed frames
Objects or clutter near beds
They can also be found:

Under peeling paint and loose wallpaper
Under carpeting near baseboards
In upholstered furniture seams
Under light switch plates or electrical outlets
