An Egypt-Israel Alliance?
Israeli and Egyptian diplomats have held high-level talks for the first time in four years, the Times of Israel reported on Monday.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the two sides saw “eye to eye” on many issues, with Israeli diplomat Dore Gold saying, “When discussing regional challenges, both countries speak the same language.”
According to the Times, the issues discussed included,
Iran’s nuclear program, growing Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East, Cairo’s foreign policy toward Hamas, and a possible re-launch of peace talks with the Palestinians.
Israel was also pleased with “Cairo’s plans to maintain its tough stance toward the Hamas group.”
