Tel Aviv Named World’s Smartest City
On November 19, Tel Aviv won the World Smart Cities Award, beating out over 250 cities for the title of World’s Smartest City.
The award, which was given as a part of the annual Smart Cities Expo World Congress that was held this week in Barcelona, recognized Tel Aviv’s initiative in undergoing what Mayor Run Huladi hailed as a “digital revolution.”
The flagship project of Tel Aviv’s efforts is the pioneering Digi-Tel platform, which is a residents’ membership club and app that provides individually tailored, location-specific information and services.
The platform creates a direct connection between Tel Aviv and its residents, as the platform provides services that range from neighborhood road works alerts to discounts, offers, and information based upon individual interests.
