‘This little girl from Israel became Wonder Woman’
Israeli actress Gal Gadot joins her co-starts Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill at Comic-Con to debut the trailer for ‘Batman vs. Superman,’ in which she will appear as Wonder Woman.
Fans of Israeli actress Gal Gadot who attended Comic-Con in San Diego this week were treated to the first trailer of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” the movie in which Gadot will make her debut as Wonder Woman.
Gadot, co-stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill, and director Zack Snyder offered fans at San Diego’s annual pop culture and film convention an exclusive look at the upcoming superhero movie. The film, due out in March, will usher in a new age for DC Comics’ cinematic universe.
Gadot described being selected for the role of the Amazon heroine as “an out of body experience.”
“There was this little girl from Israel becoming Wonder Woman. I love the way they made the costume look, and I think it really represents the Wonder Woman of today. I’m very, very grateful to be the one to bring her to life,” she said during a “Women Who Kick Ass” panel.
She also discussed an unusual casting process in which she didn’t even know what she was auditioning for.
“Two years ago, I was in Los Angeles and they told me that Warner Bros. wanted me to audition for something. I didn’t know what it was, but I did an audition. I got back to Israel and everything was great, and then Zack Snyder called and said ‘We’re going to need you for a camera test.’ He asked, ‘Do you know what you’re testing for? Do you have Wonder Woman in Israel?’ My jaw dropped. And then I tried to play it cool and say, ‘Yeah, of course!'”
