‘I Want a Lamborghini’: Second Expose’ Released After Planned Parenthood Denies Selling Baby Organs

WASHINGTON — Days after the president of Planned Parenthood released a video statement denying that the organization makes any profit from selling the organs of aborted babies, a second undercover video has been released showing another top director joking that she would like enough to buy a Lamborghini.

“I want to be really clear: The allegation that Planned Parenthood profits in any way from tissue donation is not true,” Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards claimed in a video on Thursday, emphasizing the word “any.”

But on Tuesday, The Center for Medical Progress released a second undercover video, this time with abortionist Mary Gatter, the president of Planned Parenthood’s Medical Directors Council. The Center for Medical Progress again posed as a fetal tissue procurement company, and asked Gatter what kind of compensation she would expect for intact organs.

Gatter mentions during the discussion that she had been working with the stem cell organization Novogenix Laboratories while serving as an abortionist in California.

“Heather, a Novogenix person, would come to the site and our staff would sign the patients up and get consent,” she explains. “And then Heather would look at the tissue and take what she required.”

Gatter then outlines that her Planned Parenthood facility was paid by Novogenix for the “tissue.”

“So, there was compensation for this,” she says. “They have been paying by the case, and there was some discussion about doing it in a different way. I don’t know what you’re used to doing—how you’re used to doing compensation. Patients don’t get anything of course, but—.”

Since Gatter mentions compensation, one of the undercover investigators then asks what she would expect to be paid from their company if they were to do business.

“What would you expect for intact tissue?” she asks. “What sort of compensation?”

“Well, why don’t you start by telling me what you’re used to paying?” Gatter replies.

“I don’t think so,” the woman replies. “I would like to know what would make you happy. What would work for you?”

Gatter then looks at her co-worker who is sitting next to her and pauses for a moment.

“Well, you know in negotiations the person who throws out the figure first is at a loss, right?” she says, laughing.

The woman tells Gatter that she doesn’t see it that way, but Gatter expresses that she doesn’t want to “lowball” the figure. The undercover investigator advises Gatter not to lowball the amount, but to tell her how much she really would want for the donated organs of aborted babies.

“Okay, $75 a specimen,” Gatter replies.

“Oh, that’s way too low,” the woman responds.

“I was going to say $50, because I’ve been in places that did $50, too,” Gatter says. “But see, we’re not in it for the money and we don’t want to be in a position of being accused of selling tissue and stuff like that. On the other hand, there are costs associated with the use of our space and all that kind of stuff. … So, what were you thinking about?”

“I’d like to start at around $100,” the undercover investigator says.

Gatter then asks what gestation the company is looking for, whether only second trimester babies or also first trimester babies. She explains that the method that is currently used for the first trimester does not usually bring the babies parts out intact, so the facility would need to consider switching to a “less crunchy” method to accommodate the need.

“I don’t think the patients would care one iota,” Gatter says, after expressing initial concern about breaking protocol.

She proceeds by instructing what she believes is a fetal tissue procurement company to write a proposal for consideration.

“And are we agreed that $100 would keep you happy?” the undercover investigator asks.

“I think so,” Gatter replies, looking at her associate. “Well, let me agree to find out what other affiliates in California are getting, and if they’re getting substantially more, then we can discuss it then.”
