BOOM: Israel Just Singled Out Michelle Obama for a Massive Insult
After First Lady Michelle Obama banned American schools from celebrating student birthdays with scrumptious treats like cupcakes, Israel’s Education Ministry decided to do the same thing.
This coincidence had many students in Israel blaming Michelle for this unfortunate twist of fate, and it appears that their criticism was on point.
“Has Michelle Obama been consulting with Israel’s Education Ministry?” Israel National News asked in a column.
The answer to that rhetorical question was yes … sort of.
It was in fact the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign that inspired Rachel Azaria, a former Jerusalem City Council member, to push the Israeli government to make these sorts of changes.
“We’ve been working on this behind the scenes for a long time,” she said in 2013. “But in late 2012, we turned it into a real campaign and we are demanding that the Education Ministry address this important issue.”
And so Azaria started circulating petitions, campaigning on the streets and even reportedly using “sympathetic experts” — a tactic developed by Michelle Obama — to get the Israeli government to do what she wanted.
Apparently, her scheming and plotting worked, because Israeli students who are celebrating their birthdays will now have to contend with healthy snacks — carrots, broccoli and apples, for instance — instead.
