MAJOR NEWS OUT OF ISRAEL: Syria Reports 1 Army Soldier Killed in IDF Airstrikes
Syrian army source says Israeli strikes in response to rocket fire left 1 dead, 7 wounded at army post in Quneitra
In one of the IDF’s airstrikes on a Syrian army position in the Golan Heights on Thursday night, which came in response to four rockets fired from Syria, one soldier was killed and seven others wounded according to a Syrian military source on Friday.
“The enemy aircraft struck a military position in the area of Quneitra at 11:30 p.m., martyring one and wounding seven soldiers,” said the source, quoted by the official news agency SANA.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based monitoring group that relies on a network of sources in the war-torn country, said two soldiers had been killed and eight wounded.
Overnight the IDF struck 14 targets in Syria in response to the rockets that struck the Golan Heights and Upper Galilee in the afternoon hours. The IDFreports that the targets hit included weapons storehouses and infrastructure of the Syrian army, but apparently one army position was manned.
The Syrian army report comes after Yisrael Beytenu chairman MK Avigdor Liberman on Friday said the IDF response was too weak, saying, “when you hear that they tried to attack infrastructure, usually that means sand or empty areas to sell the same bulls*** to the people of Israel that they did something.”
