85,000 Brits want Netanyahu to be arrested when he arrives in London
More than 85,000 people have signed a petition demanding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu must be arrested for war crimes when he when he arrives in London next month.
The petition was started earlier in August by the British citizen Damian Moran and can be found on the UK Parliament’s website.
“Benjamin Netanyahu is to hold talks in London this September. Under international law he should be arrested for war crimes upon arrival in the U.K for the massacre of over 2000 civilians in 2014,” writes Moran.
According to the website, all petitions signed by at least 100,000 people will be debated in Parliament. The government, however, has already rejected the claim on the grounds that foreign leaders on official visits are legally immune and therefore not possible to arrest or detain.
