Hudson Media mogul throws daughter $1 million bat mitzvah
Hudson Media mogul Jimmy Cohen threw a wildly lavish, $1 million-plus bat mitzvah this weekend for his daughter, Jaclyn, where Nick Jonas was paid an estimated $300,000 for performing six songs.
Wealthy Cohen, the heir of the Hudson News empire and the brother of the late Page Six editor Claudia Cohen, threw the event in a huge 10,000-square-foot tent at their home in Alpine, NJ, on Saturday, with guests including Ralph Lauren Home president William Li, p.r. maven Susan Magrino and her husband Jim Dunning, and Dr. Oz and his wife Lisa.
Guests were greeted by rows of dancers dressed as flower-clad showgirls, a host of butlers and a few robots. The theme was 1960s Lilly Pulitzer, and the tent was decked out in shades of pink and gray satin with huge floral decorations on each table.
They also had Segways, a 1960s diner-themed area with unlimited milkshakes and ice cream, a roller coaster simulator, and a lavish dinner for 300. There were flamingos at every table surrounded by orchids. Hanging from inside the tent were bird cages with cascading feathers and fabrics. Jaclyn’s mother Lisa Cohen is an interior-design editor and personally oversaw the décor.
