The IDF on Sunday evening used artillery fire against two targets belonging to the Syrian army in the Golan Heights, the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit announced.
According to the statement, the attack was in retaliation for the spillover of the Syrian civil war into the Israeli side of the border over the past two days.
“The IDF views the Syrian army as responsible for the goings on in its territory and will not tolerate any attempt to harm Israel’s sovereignty and the security of its citizens,” said the IDF Spokesperson.
On Sunday evening, around 8:30 p.m. local time, a mortar shell from Syria exploded on the Israeli side of the border, landing in an open area and causing no physical injuries or damages.
A similar incident occurred on Saturday evening, when a projectile from Syria exploded in the Golan Heights.
