SHARIA LAW IN AMERICA? Obama Bans Pork From Federal Prisons… Update: CAIR Cheers Ban
Well, well, well… the Obama Administration has now officially banned pork products in our prison system. The reason for this? No one eats it anymore. Seriously? Not buying it. Who doesn’t love bacon unless you belong to a religion that forbids it? Hmmm? Many will assume that Obama did this to appease the Muslim faith, but the Justice Department (cough, cough) says that is just a flat out lie. That prisoners overwhelmingly don’t want pork. Well, either that is a lie or the majority of prisoners are now Muslim. Take your pick. Pork producers are crying foul and I don’t blame them. The reasoning for this move is obvious to even the densest out there and it’s not because prisoners don’t like the other white meat. The prisons are also saying it is too expensive. Give me a break. Everything’s too expensive including the prisoners. Lame.
The Obama administration has banned bacon, pork chops, pork links, ham and all other pork products from all federal prisons.
But for those concerned that the U.S. government is bending to the will of Muslim inmates, the Bureau of Prisons, which falls under the charge of the Justice Department, insists the change was made based on a survey of prisoners’ food preferences, the Washington Post reported.
Apparently inmates just don’t like bacon … who knew?
“Why keep pushing food that people don’t want to eat?” prison bureau spokesman Edmond Ross told the Post, presumably with a straight face. “Pork has been the lowest-rated food by inmates for several years.”
Inmates can still obtain packaged pork rinds and precooked bacon at the prison commissary, according to the Post, assuming they have the means to pay for it.
Naturally, the Council on American-Islamic Relations is thrilled with the decision.
“In general we welcome the change because it’s facilitating the accommodation of Muslim inmates,’ said CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper. “We hope it’s not an indication of an increasing number of Muslims in the prison system.”
The nation’s pork producers, on the other hand, who first learned of the ban on Monday when contacted by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram for comment, are not as pleased.
“I find it hard to believe that a survey would have found a majority of any population saying, ‘No thanks, I don’t want any bacon,’” National Pork Producers Council spokesman Dave Warner told the Post.
“We’re going to find out how this came about and go from there,” Warner added. “We wouldn’t rule out any options to resolve this.”
They may want to start with a close look at how the questions were structured in the “survey.” Ether way, it seems as if the battle over bacon has commenced in earnest.
When you take away a man’s bacon, you are begging for a fight. Just sayin’. On the subject of it being too expensive, pork seems a lot cheaper to me than beef and maybe even chicken at times. So, that argument really doesn’t hold bacon grease. If you can believe it, the prison officials are claiming many prisoners want to become vegetarians. Right… because criminals are so health conscious. This is ridiculous. Incarcerated pork lovers still have an option: The prison commissary, a convenience store that sells packaged pork rinds and precooked bacon. But they have to pay. You know, because they have so much disposable income behind bars. Not only that, but they declined to say if there were more Muslim prisoners now. They did bring up Jews with Muslims though. I doubt the Jewish population is the problem here. Nice way to deflect. “In general we welcome the change because it’s facilitating the accommodation of Muslim inmates,” said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the country’s largest Muslim civil rights advocacy group. “We hope it’s not an indication of an increasing number of Muslims in the prison system.” They are converting prisoners, so of course there’s an increased Muslim population. I’ll close by saying it’s not Islamophobia to want bacon. It is however discriminatory not to have it.
The Obama administration announced this week it would ban pork products including ham, bacon, pork links, and chops from all federal prisons.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations cheered the news this week.
The Washington Post reported:
The nation’s pork producers are in an uproar after the federal government abruptly removed bacon, pork chops, pork links, ham and all other pig products from the national menu for 206,000 federal inmates.
The ban started with the new fiscal year last week.
The Bureau of Prisons, which is responsible for running 122 federal penitentiaries and feeding their inmates three meals a day, said the decision was based on a survey of prisoners’ food preferences:
They just don’t like the taste of pork.
“Why keep pushing food that people don’t want to eat?” asked Edmond Ross, a spokesman for the
