A year ago, Samra Kesinovic and a teen-aged friend fled their Austrian homes to embrace ISIS, where for a brief moment, they became famous as “poster girls” for the terrorists.
She has now joined that friend in death, beaten in the Syrian city of Raqqa by members of ISIS, according to reports in the European news media.
Kesinovic and Sabina Selimovic left their Austrian homes in October of 2014.
“Don’t look for us. We will serve Allah and we will die for him,” read the note they left behind.
The two girls, both native Bosnians, went to Turkey and eventually to Syria, where they arrived in Raqqa. The girls, 17 and 15 when they left Austria, married ISIS fighters in Syria. After their arrival, they became important parts of the ISIS public relations effort. Their pictures were taken in full burqas carrying automatic weapons and surrounded by armed men as part of ISIS’ efforts to recruit young women to come to Syria.
