ISIS Publishes First Official Response To San Bernardino Massacre That They Committed
The Islamic State praises the attackers who killed 14 people in San Bernardino and asks “Allah to accept them as martyrs”
The Islamic State published its first official response to the San Bernardino mass shooting, declaring on Saturday that the married couple who carried out the deadly rampage were “soliders of the Caliphate.”
“We ask Allah to accept them as martyrs,” the terror group said. In an English version of the message, they praised Farook and Malik as “soldiers of the Caliphate.”
On Wednesday, in the immediate aftermath of the unimaginable rampage, ISIS adherents began celebrating the massacre online before the manhunt for the suspects had even ended. Vocativ exposed the ghoulish celebration, uncovering the hashtag #America_Burning on terrorism forums used by ISIS to share information using our deep web technology.
In its Saturday message, ISIS stopped short of saying it had directed Wednesday’s shootings at Island Regional Center, but its response was a clear sign it approved of the massacre in which Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik killed 14 people.
“Two of the Islamic State supporters attacked a center in San Bernardino in the American state of California, opened fire inside the center and caused the killing of 14 people and injuring of dozens,” ISIS said in its daily al-Bayan Radio news bulletin on Saturday morning.

The official statement followed an unofficial claim of responsibility on Friday that was distributed by an ISIS-linked media group, the Amaq News Agency. More celebrations were posted on Friday after it was revealed that Malik reportedly pledged allegiance to Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in a Facebook post.
