Russian Cruise Missile Flies Off Target and Smashes Into Apartment Block Near Base
A Russian cruise missile hit near a village in the northwestern portion of the country but no casualties were inflicted, the Russian Defense Ministry said. A piece of the missile hit an apartment complex.
In a statement, the ministry said the missile fell near the village of Nyonoksa on the White Sea coast in the Arkhangelsk region. The ministry said it “deviated from its designated flight path” due to a problem that was not disclosed.
The missile was being tested by missile manufacturing company NPO Mashinostroyeniye, which did not issue a comment about the failed launch.
