Vandalism against asylum center gave 18 months in prison – Immigrant’s assault with iron chains gave two months
A 26-year-old man was on December 17, sentenced to 18 months in prison for repeated vandalism against Lyngbygaard Asylum Centre near Grenaa in Denmark. The verdict was among other things given on the basis that the vandalism had an ethnic motive, writes the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet.
On Christmas Eve 2014, the couple Nanna Skovmand and Mads Schøllhammer were assaulted by a group of young immigrants. The attack was so severe that the pair had to be admitted to Rigshospitalet’s trauma center, where they spent 10 hours. They were beaten with bottles and iron chains.
In June 2015, three of the young immigrants from the attack were sentenced to one year in prison and ten months in prison, of which only two months were made unconditional in all three cases.
