Dolce & Gabbana Launches Line of Hijabs to Appeal to Muslims
Dolce & Gabbana has launched its first line of hijabs and abayas. Designer Stefano Gabbana proudly broke the news on his Instagram, captioning photos of the collection, “Dolce & Gabbana the Abaya collection ❤️❤️❤️❤️ #dgabaya.”
The full collection, which can be seen at Style.com/Arabia, reportedly comes in “sheer georgette and satin weave charmeuse fabrics and include[s] copious lace details along hems.”
The Italian fashion house is just the latest brand to cater to Muslim women—deemed by Fortune to be “the next untapped fashion market.” According to a report by Thomson Reuters, Muslim women are expected to spend $484 billion on clothing and shoes by 2019.
