PAST COMES TO LIFE: 3,400 Year-Old Citadel Uncovered in Nahariya, Israel

What would you do if you uncovered a 3,400-year-old citadel near the site of your new apartment building? Put it in the building, of course!
That’s exactly what architect Alex Schpol plans on doing. Schpol is helping to design the new state-of-the-art high-rise, the Kochav Company’s latest project located in Nahariya. They are planning on displaying some of the remains in the basement of the building for the viewing pleasure of future occupants and visitors.
How Did This Happen?
The Canaanite remains were found when the Kochav Company began construction on the underground parking structure that the high-rise will feature. Local youth groups were among those recruited by the Israeli Antiquities Authority to partake in the excavation.
Based on the findings within the citadel, the excavation directors have reason to believe that it was used as a refueling location for sailors on the Mediterranean. They also noted that the citadel had clearly been burned down and rebuilt
