Israeli fighter jets strike Gaza terror targets in retaliation for rocket fire
Israeli fighter jets early on Monday carried out retaliatory strikes targeting terror infrastructure in the Gaza Strip after a rocket launched from the Hamas-controlled enclave hit an open area in southern Israel Sunday evening.
A Salafist cell in Gaza claimed responsibility for the attack, local media reported.
The rocket landing in the Sha’ar HeNegev Regional Council caused no injuries or damage. Sirens warning of incoming rockets were operated across Israeli communities bordering the Strip.
“In response last nights rocket attack, IAF aircrafts targeted a #Hamas military training facility in the central #Gaza Strip,” IDF Spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner wrote on Twitter.
