Afghan Woman Kills Senior Taliban Commander For Trespassing
Provincial police report that a senior Taliban commander was shot dead by a woman in the northern Baghlan province of Afghanistan, because he barged into her home uninvited.
Press TV notes that invading the woman’s home was considered “a serious breach of privacy” under Afghan custom. Evidently this particular homeowner took it seriously, because she reported “opened indiscriminate fire” on the Taliban who violated her privacy, injuring one militant in addition to the slain commander.
The UK Independent notes Baghlan province has “become a tense region of Afghanistan, which has seen fighting between Afghan National Army and Taliban militants in recent months, as the Taliban have spread from their traditional strongholds in the south and east of the country.”
According to the Independent, 31 militants were killed last week during military operations in the area.
