SHOCKING ADMISSION: Belgian cops knew terror attack was imminent BEFORE Brussels bloodbath
Questions have been raised over whether police and security officials did enough to prevent today’s deadly terror attacks at Brussels airport and a metro station, leaving at least 34 dead and 230 injured.
The atrocities, claimed by the depraved Islamic State (ISIS), came just days after Belgium cops caught the last surviving suspect in November’s attacks on Paris.
Belgium has announced 400 million euros (£310 million) of extra spending to upgrade its security capabilities since it emerged that the country of 11 million citizens was the home of the blood-thirsty Paris attackers who killed 130 people.
But today’s horror bombings at home show how much further it still has to go.
One US government official said the deadly attacks showed Belgian authorities still “have not upped their game”.
Catching Paris attack suspect Salah Abdeslam on Friday was a coup for Belgium’s security services.
But his four months apparently hiding and moving about the capital were also proof of how difficult the task of securing Belgium is likely to be.
