Blundering British jihadi films himself being shot in the head by Russian sniper in Syria
A London teacher turned Al-Qaeda jihadist inadvertently filmed his own death during fighting in Syria.
The face of Abu Baseer al-Hindi, a former British teacher and law graduate, has been revealed in a “tribute” video released by the militant group.
The Muslim extremist fled Britain in 2014 and initially joined ISIS-affiliated Rayat al-Tawheed before switching allegiance to Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian wing of Al-Qaeda.
He died four months ago after being shot in the head by Russian forces during a battle in the the port city of Latakia.
Now fellow Brit and terrorist convert Lucas Kinney has created a tribute video to the 25-year-old, which reveals his face for the first time and claims he grew up in London.
It also shows Abu Baseer’s final moments, captured on the camera he was using to film the fatal battle on November 19.
Shot five days before a Russian jet was downed over the Turkmen mountains, the footage features a countdown clock, morbidly ticking down towards the moment of Abu Baseer’s death.
As he films jihadists returning fire, a gunshot is heard and his camera suddenly spins upwards towards the sky.
Kinney is heard saying: “During the initial exchange of fire, before the battle, Abu Baseer got shot, filming his own last moments.”
