Kim Jong-un ‘hitmen’ arrested on border hours before they planned to ASSASSINATE dictator

AT least two men have been arrested accused of plotting to murder North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

It’s believed the men – a North Korean defector and Chinese national – planned to assassinate the despot in the city of Hoeryong in North Hamgyong Province.

North Korean guards arrested the men before they made it across the border.

Unconfirmed reports from the secretive state reveal the pair were arrested near the Tumen river at the Chinese border.

A number of other men are thought to have been involved in the plot but managed to escape.

The guards who made the arrest will now be rewarded, according to a source in North Korea speaking to Japanese news service the Asia Press.

It’s believed the suspects have been moved to the State Security Department but speculation is rife over the validity of the assassination attempt.

Japanese journalist Jiro Ishimaru, founder of Asia Press, said it is likely the state started the rumour in a bid to garner support for the party ahead of its Seventh Congress in May.

Kim Jong-un is expected to make major policy announcements at the Congress, which will be the first to be held in more than 30 years.

Security is being tightened
