The Washington Post reported yesterday that an unmanned aerial vehicle produced by the Israeli Aerial Industries has been used in a regional war against Armenia in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. According to the Armenian Defense Ministry, 7 people were killed.
This was apparently the first time that a weapon of this type was used in the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. According to the report, when the drone is activated, it roams in on the designated target and hits it. The Washington Post added that according to the Israel Aerial Industries website, the drone finds its target independently of the radar.
The Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region led to a war in 1991. Today, the region is an Armenian enclave within Azerbaijani territory that was disconnected from it after the cease-fire in 1994.
