ISIS army cut in half as ‘precise’ air campaign wipes out more than 25,000 jihadis

MORE than 25,000 jihadis have been killed in air strikes over the past 20 months, dealing a devastating blow to Islamic State.



Yesterday the global coalition leading military operations said the number of jihadi fighters in Iraq and Syria has halved, and dozens of the terror group’s leaders eliminated, in that time.

It was also revealed that all that remained of Jihadi John after a drone strike that killed the British executioner was “a greasy spot on the ground”.

Since Saturday 26 strikes have been launched in Iraq and Syria with British jets playing a crucial role in pounding key targets.

RAF Typhoon and Tornado jets, along with drones, have destroyed key bases operated by the terror group also known as Daesh.

Rocket, mortar and sniper teams have also been wiped out.

Forces from the US-led coalition are now preparing to mount a final assault on the IS stronghold of Raqqa in Syria.

Colonel Steve Warren, the US military spokesman for the coalition, said: “Much like a boxer, Daesh has taken several hard blows to the midsection.

“We believe the knees are getting weak, and the head is starting to drop, and they are beginning to feel the effect of the exceptional pressure we’ve placed on them over 20 months.”
