Grant Imahara, the Mythbuster, recently visited the McDonald’s fry factory to find out exactly what McDonald’s fries are made of. And, during this process, he “reverse-engineered” the McDonald’s fries and he discovered that the fries are made up of 15 harmful ingredients.
The McDonald’s fries are made of these 15 harmful ingredients:
- Hydrolyzed wheat
- Sodium acid pyrophosphate
- Natural beef flavor
- Hydrolyzed milk
- Hydrogenated soybean oil
- Soybean oil
- Canola oil
- Hydrogenated oil
- Citric acid
The 3 worst and most dangerous ingredients found in this list are: TBHQ, dimethylpolysiloxane and hydrogenated soybean oil.
- TBHQ, or tertiary butylhydroquionone, is a type of phenol used in many foods in order to prevent deterioration of food. This harmful compound is also used in other products, such as perfumes and bio-diesel.
