European Union official admits Munich shooting WAS linked to continent’s refugee crisis
THE Munich shooting spree which left nine people dead at a shopping mall was linked to the refugee crisis, an EU bureaucrat has claimed.
German-Iranian student Ali Sonboly, 18, gunned down his helpless victims during a rampage outside a McDonald’s restaurant at Munich’s Olympia shopping centre before killing himself.
European Commission spokesman Margaritis Schinas said the continent will “defend ourselves against attacks against our way of life” following the killings.
He said: “Europe’s doors are open to those who flee war and persecution and seek asylum but we will defend ourselves against attacks against our way of life.
“Our compassion does not and must not come at the expense of our security.
