WikiLeaks Releases Hacked DNC Voicemails
WikiLeaks followed up its release of nearly 20,000 hacked Democratic National Committee emails last week with posting voicemails Wednesday night that it obtained from the organization.
The 29 released voicemails did not offer any new revelations about the DNC scandal of actively siding with Hillary Clinton over Sen. Bernie Sanders, which forced the resignation of chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz over the weekend.
However, the release revealed how extensive the compromise of the organization’s information was. WikilLeaks editor-in-chief Julian Assange told CNN on Tuesday that his outlet may release “a lot more material” relevant to the presidential campaign in the weeks and months ahead.
The Hill reported among that multiple voice messages to the DNC included voters and contributors calling to voice their anger with the committee for giving too many concessions to Sanders to gain his support.
“What I see is the Democratic Party bending over backwards for Bernie,” said a caller, who threatened to leave the party if the DNC doesn’t stop “coddling” the Vermont senator.
As reported by Western Journalism, among the more controversial DNC emails released by WikiLeaks were ones by senior staff suggesting letting primary voters in Kentucky and West Virginia know Sanders is an atheist and planting a story in the media that his campaign was in disarray.
Assange took the DNC and Clinton to task for seeking to divert attention about the content of the emails by accusing the Russians of being the source.
