Hillary Clinton told the FBI that former Secretary of State Colin Powell “told her to use her own email, as he had done, except for classified communications, which he had sent and received via a State Department computer,” during a dinner conversation. According to the New York Times, “Mr. Powell’s office released a statement on Thursday night saying he had no recollection of the dinner conversation.”
The shocking information came to light only after the FBI was pressured by Congress to turn over the transcript of the three-hour interview investigators had with Clinton before deciding not to press criminal charges against the Democrat presidential candidate.
The report was only turned over to Congress on Tuesday. More details about Hillary’s comments during the interview will likely be shared with the public in the days to come.In a statement released by Powell, the former Secretary of State did say he mentioned to Clinton how “how…vastly improved communications within the State Department” had evolved since he was in office—when it came to sharing NON-CLASSIFIED information via private email.
Unlike Hillary Clinton, Colin Powell did not keep a private server in his basement.
According to a report by a State Department inspector general, by the time Hillary assumed the helm at the federal agency, possessing a private server for work purposes had already been banned due to the “significant security risks” associated with such devices.
Perhaps Hillary just “short circuited” again and remembered her conversation with Colin Powell incorrectly.
